The origins of the English Setter stretch back to the 1300's. It was originally bred for small game hunting and retrieving.
As a pet, the English Setter is a very loyal companion, friendly and good mannered and gets along with children. The English Setter is also very easy to train and willing to train. The Setters coat is hypoallergenic so it is less likely to cause allergic reactions, but it does shed a lot.
The English Setter is one of four British breeds that have fallen out of favour, seeing a huge decline in popularity mainly due to the trend in smaller dogs known as Toy's.
